1. Industrial visit to Airport 21 Jan 2014

As a student of civil engineering, student must have an exposure on the Role of Civil Engineer in Planning and design of an Airport. A civil engineer must have adequate knowledge of different components of airport, Runway, pavement specialities for the extreme loads and it's exposed surface to bear the heavy impact of an Aircraft in different climatic conditions ranging from extreme cold weather in the arctic to hot weather in the tropics. At the same time, certain parts of the pavement are exposed to fully loaded aircraft at slow speed and other parts only to occasional passes of service vehicles.

Department of Civil Engineering Has organized an industrial visit to airport for better understanding of how an Airport is controlled and operated and the job opportunities in the field for the students.

2. Industrial visit to Ongoing Barrage Construction at Digdi, Mahur.

Irrigation is the artificial application of water to the land or soil. It is used to assist in the growing of agricultural crops, when rainfall is inadequate. Hence Construction of Dams is essential for the sustainable development of society.

Dams engineering requires understanding and control of the enormous forces and potential energy of water. From foundation and seismic assessments through to geotechnical, hydrological, hydraulic, mechanical and structural design, projects demand in-depth skills and a coordinated, client-focused approach.

For better understanding we visited an ongoing Barrage Project at Digdi near Mahur where our students experienced how the Precast Prestressed Concrete Girders are constructed. Also they have got the ideas of different construction equipment and Readymix concrete plants.

3. Industrial visit to Water Treatment Plant at Nanded

Water treatment describes industrial-scale processes that make water more acceptable for an end use, which may be drinking, agricultural or industrial. Water treatment should remove existing water contaminants or so reduce their concentration that their water becomes fit for its desired end-use, which may be safely returning used water to the environment.

The processes involved in treating water for drinking purpose may be solids separation using physical processes such as coagulation, sedimentation, settling and filtration, and chemical processes such as disinfection and coagulation.

Biological processes are carried in the treatment of wastewater and these processes may include aerated lagoons, activated sludge or slow sand filters etc.

In order to observe the treatment units and processes this visit had been organized to WTP, Nanded with our students for understanding practically the different processes involved in treating water which make it potable.

4. Two Day Workshop for Concrete Design Mix by AMBUJA CEMENT.

Today is a boom of construction and as a civil engineer we must have an adequate knowledge about material used in construction hence we always try to upgrade our students for sustaining in this stunning world of construction.

Department of Civil Engineering organized workshops and trainings for the students with the leading companies and Industries in the field of construction.
